An unanswered Facebook lead is not proof of a fake enquiry. Before you judge lead quality, check your form, the performance goal you selected and your follow-up process. Qualify each enquiry inside calling hours and record the outcome, rather than treating every missed call as junk.
Why are my Facebook leads so bad? How to judge lead quality fairly
Last reviewed: 6 November 2026.
Three things to check first
- Your form. With Meta Instant Forms you can add prefill questions, which take information from a person's Facebook or Instagram profile to complete the form. These include contact fields such as email, phone number and city, and first and last name. People can edit prefilled information before they submit. Make sure your questions, including the qualifying ones, tell you what you need to know.
- Your performance goal and feedback loop. Meta says that connecting your CRM through Conversions API for CRM lets your CRM send lead data to Meta to help you optimise your lead ads for higher quality instead of volume. If you use Leads Center, you can connect it to the Conversions API instead. Once you've connected, and where it's available for your account, you can choose Conversion leads as the performance goal for future campaigns. Review Meta's current setup requirements before you rely on it. Results aren't guaranteed.
- Your follow-up. Meta's own guidance says minimising the time it takes to follow up with your leads can improve your lead quality. It recommends running lead ads during your business hours so you can start a conversation quickly.
Sort leads by what you actually know
- Not yet contacted: you haven't reached them yet. A missed call proves nothing. Try again inside calling hours and follow up on WhatsApp or email.
- Invalid contact details: the number or email doesn't work. That can be a typo or an outdated detail, not necessarily a deliberate fake. Record it, try any other contact detail you have, and review your form questions.
- Accidental enquiry: you reached them and they say they didn't mean to enquire. Thank them, close the lead and respect any request not to be contacted again.
- Low intent: they're browsing, with no budget or timeline yet. Offer a lighter follow-up and an easy way to opt out.
- Interested buyer: they have a budget, a timeline and want to see a property. Book the viewing and hand them to an agent.
What to do next
- Call back fast, inside calling hours. Every callback happens inside each campaign's local calling hours. Leads that arrive outside them are queued for the next opening, never called at night.
- Qualify on the first call. Ask about budget, timeline, financing, area and purpose, then offer a viewing slot.
- Record the stage of every lead. Keep stages such as qualified or converted up to date in your CRM or in Leads Center.
- Send those stages back to Meta, if you choose to. Connect your CRM or Leads Center to the Conversions API, then consider the Conversion leads performance goal on future campaigns.
- Keep control of your ad account. Start read-only, approve every change, keep spend caps, keep a change log and use one-click undo.

FAQ
Why do so many Facebook leads not answer?
There can be several reasons. The call may have come at a bad moment or late, the contact details may be wrong, the enquiry may have been accidental, or the person may just be browsing. An unanswered call alone doesn't mean a lead is fake. Follow up again inside calling hours.
Are Facebook Instant Form leads fake?
Not as a rule. Treat each one as a real enquiry until you learn otherwise, then record whether it was uncontacted, invalid, accidental, low intent or interested.
Should I stop running Facebook lead ads?
Not necessarily. Check your form, your performance goal and how fast you follow up first.
How do I tell Meta which leads were good?
Connect your CRM, or Leads Center, to the Conversions API and keep lead stages up to date. Where it's available for your account, you can then choose Conversion leads as the performance goal on future campaigns. Check Meta's current setup requirements. Results aren't guaranteed.
Will Shabda call my leads at night?
No. Shabda only calls inside each campaign's calling hours. Leads that arrive after hours are queued for the next opening.
How much does Shabda cost?
Less than ₹6 per minute in India and less than AED 0.50 per minute in the UAE.
